Operation Fellsmere
One of our favorite giving events!
Our "elves" worked hard to sew, fill and deliver goody bags to the children of Fellsmere school again this year. This has been one of our favorite projects for several years. Bags are sewn, then stuffed with toys, pencils, crayons, books, candy, socks and more. Girls receive little dresses and boys receive graphic t-shirts. Our club members always look forward to handing out the bags to 40 children and seeing the smiles on those sweet little faces. Afterwards, lunch at Marsh Landing is always a tradition. We look forward to this heart-warming event every year.
Our first craft fair workshop had everyone who attended busy making items to sell. We expect more dates and even more crafty elves to participate.
As always, our elves are always well fed at our workshop events. Thanks to Sherry for all the sweet breakfast treats and to Diane for welcoming everyone into her home and providing a yummy lunch.
We sadly say Goodbye to one of our members

Operation Fellsmere Christmas Bags
Look at these precious faces. They are patiently awaiting their gift bags filled with toys, games, candy and clothing. All of the bags were sewn by Cheryl Boydston and the dresses for the girls were sewn by Bonne Smead. Members of the Melbourne Woman's Club shopped for items to fill the bags and met at the home of Bess Severance to sort & fill 44 bags, then enjoyed lunch at Dottie's Restaurant in Palm Bay. Volunteers for this important task were Bess Severance, Denise Hadsall, Diane Young, Pat Pascazi, Alice Napier, Michele St. James and Sandy Nicotra.
The children lined up to receive their gift bags from Bess Severance and Alice Roper. All were so sweet and gracious. Thanks to Sherry Odom for being our photographer for the day.
After delivering the Christmas bags to Fellsmere Elementary School, these hard-working ladies took time to enjoy a wonderful lunch at Marsh Landing. L-R Alice Roper, Bess Severance, Sherry Odom, Carrie Andrews and Maxine Russakoff.
Operation Fellsmere has been one of the many Community Service Projects of the Melbourne Woman's Club for over 10 years. Items purchased for the bags are paid for in part by fundraising efforts and donations.

Our annual Christmas Luncheon was a blast!
Our members met at the Mansion in Melbourne for another fantastic luncheon on December 7th. The staff there always goes above and beyond to provide great food and service. We held a brief business meeting in which Maxine Russakoff was awarded a lifetime membership in appreciation for over 40 years of service to GFWC. As we adjourned our meeting, we were served a massive amount of food! Diane's expression when she got her "sandwich" says it all. Maxine was there to encourage her to clean her plate. (It took her 3 days to eat all that!) None of us left there hungry.
